About Howden

We are proud to be one of Howden’s most established shops and encourage you to experience what our historic East Yorkshire market town has to offer.

History buffs may be interested in the eighth century minster with its 135 foot tower that is clearly visible from the M62 or the fact that the central market square once played host to one of the greatest horse fairs in Europe when representatives of the 19th century Royal Houses came to buy animals for their country’s armouries.

Shoppers will be enticed by the market that sells a colourful range of goods and produce and takes place in the historic Shire Hall and the market place every Friday whilst foodies will be delighted to learn that Howden is home to the best places to eat out for miles around, morning noon or night, and that the Spanish Restaurant virtually opposite the Aquarius showroom on Bridgegate comes highly recommended!

Nature enthusiasts may prefer the peace and solitude of local nature reserve Howden Marsh, a natural habitat that is home to ducks, moorhens, coots, finches and many other bird species whilst socialisers may be interested to know that Howden is allegedly home to more pubs per square mile than anywhere else in the country!

Cheers – we look forward to welcoming you to Howden!
